Quang Binh, the background for blockbuster film King Kong

The Kong Skull Island film crew arrived in Phong Nha in Quang Binh Province, central Vietnam, to prepare for shooting some scenes.

The most popular tour in the national park visits Phong Nha and Tien Son caves. Tickets are priced from VND20,000 to VND80,000 per person depending on age. The boat rent (for 1-14 people) is VND320,000-VND350,000/trip.

The most beautiful and well-known caves in Phong Nha – Ke Bang are Phong Nha, Tien Son, Thien Duong, Toi, En, Khe Ry and Son Doong – the largest cave in the world.

In 2003, Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park was recognized by UNESCO as the World Natural Heritage site based on the criteria of geology and geomorphology. In 2015, the UNESCO recognized this site as the World Natural Heritage for the second time, based on biodiversity and ecological criteria.

Visitors can visit the park from 7 am to 5 pm on weekdays. The Son River wharf where tourists begin their trip to caves.

There are about 300 large and small caves in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, divided into three main systems: Phong Nha cave system, Vom cave system and Ruc Mon cave system.

The total area of the national parks is 343,300 hectares, including 123,300 hectares of the core area and 220,000 hectares of the buffer zone. Phong Nha is known as the “kingdom of caves,” with many mysterious landscapes, and magnificent caves like castles in the heart of limestone mountains.
